The Department of Molecular Biology is a center for research in the life sciences at Princeton University. Housed mainly in four adjacent and connected buildings, it is home to 50 faculty and associated faculty, 120 graduate students, 130 postdoctoral fellows, 100 undergraduate majors, and 100 technical and administrative staff. This vibrant research community continues to expand its faculty, both within the Department and with new associated faculty in the disciplines of Chemistry, Computer Science, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Engineering, Physics, and Psychology. The areas of focus in the department include the following:
The graduate program offers each entering student the opportunity, with the help of faculty advisors, to create an intellectual program that matches and supports his or her particular scientific interests. Princeton's commitment to a cutting-edge multidisciplinary approach to biology is highlighted by the opening of the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics, the new program in Quantitative and Computational Biology, and the new initiatives in neuroscience. |
